need motor work

I just recently bought a 400ex off of a unhappy customer this weekend during riding.

It was ran with no oil for the entire holiday weekend and it died Sunday afternoon.

I was just curious were some of you are sending your motors for work to be done on them???

I dont want nothing real radical done, but it will need a bore, clutch work for sure, and I'm sure the top end is probably cooked or needs some TLC.

if I had the chance to have an extra 400 laying around, and one that runs, I would use the opportunity to pull the motor and split the cases myself, and try to rebuild it, it would be a good learning experience, nothing like hands on experience to get some learning.

If I had a extra 400 Motor and if I had money, which I don`t for both of those, I would send it to TC or Sparks for a full on 440 race motor with a Hinson full 8 plate clutch.

crank is prob shot too...no telling what will be found in the bottom of that case good luck!
