I started this truck a week and a half ago, we replaced just about ever part of the body but the cab, talegate, and drivers side door. The base coat is rustoleum paint, and I just clear coateded over it with Omni clear. There were probably 2 or 3 nights where we were at the shop till past midnight working on it, and last night we started paint around 3 and didn't finish till about 10. He has a chrome front and rear bumper thats going on it, along with pished diamond plate trim that goes along the bottom, and a tool box for the bed. Then it has a visror thats going back on too. So what you guys think?

I like the hood scoops:blah:

It's a shop, its got 2 stalls, and a little office. Thats where we did all the work on this truck too.

Ehh It would looke better with just two tone and not faded. The faded makes it look cheap and like you screwed up.

But good painting better than I could do.

Ehh to each thier own on the fade. I like it, and it's what my friend wanted. Besides all the fords around here are painted with the non faded 2-tone. This is something different. The truck is a mostly stock 94 f-150. The only aftermarket parts on it is the rims and tires, the stacks, and it has 9 leaf springs in the back out of a Ford 1-ton. The motor is just a 300CI straight 6, with 250,000 miles on it, and it still pulls like nothin else.

I know rustoleum paint faids in the sun FAST. I dono if yours will because it is clear coated. But I know that red is the worst, it turns white fast. If you paint somthing red rustoleum I woulded give it 3 monts before its noticibly faded.

But either way, I like the paint job. Also the smoke stacks are mint! dont care for the hood scoops tho, each has their own tho.

Has he thot about a difrent grill?

the fade really kills the look of it IMO, looks like you did a good job but its really hard to do a fade that is even. to me the worst part is the bit of overspray on the top of the fendewells. if you and your friend like thats all that matters;)

oh and those stacks really don't do anything for the truck but what ever floats your boat.

Not to bad. I just think if you spent that much time replacing parts, you should have went with an automotive paint. That close up looks like a lot of orange peele in the paint. Fish eye reducer would have eliminated alot of that. The paint dried to fast and did not have time to flow together. Still doesnt look bad.

Next time I do a paint job like this the top color is goin on first. That would have gotten rid of that overspray on the black. And the orange peal really isn't that bad. It's just how the pic is.

I'm getting ready to do the same on my truck. How is the quality of the Rustoleum?

We had a little fun.

The rustoleum holds up good. Before I repainted it the truck was painted all black with just the rustoleum paint, and it was like that for about a year, mabe a little more and it held up great. With this paint job I used PPG's DP90 apoxy primer, one quart did the whole truck. The rustoleum paint we thinned down with PPG's MR186 medium reducer, and then used Omni clear on it. The paint once it was thinned down sprayed really nice. It did tend to want to get alot of orange peal in the paint though, but I put the clear on as heavy as I could without having to worry about it running, and it turned out great.

As for how the stacks sound.....I have to say it is one of the best sounding trucks in the area, loud too.

imo..stacks are pointless unless there is some black smoke pouring out of them:blah:

they do look good though:p

that body is a lot straighter than a lot of original ford bodies i see around. most are very wavy around body lines and fenders.

You can put stacks in and then if you ever decide to take them out and sell..Put a piece of metal under the bed to cover the holes and then weld them on. Then get rhino lining...Good as new.

the paint job itself looks pretty good for amateur i think. the fade looks like overspray on the black. id definately just mask off the red and repaint the black two tone. the stacks are definately cool, no matter the engine. the lick-m-and stick'm hood scoops make the whole truck a big POS, you wanted opinions theres mine.

why dont you just cut and buff it to get rid of the orange peel and trash?

Good job, I like the fade. It's something different.

The body looks pretty dang straight too, good job. It's a bear to do sometimes.
The front end could use being raised a couple inches though, looks like the truck has a rake going on. Hehe

Overall though, I think it looks good, but I think it would look better without those stick-on hood scoops. :)

truck looks good cept the fade and is it just me or should those scoops flip sides?

Orange peel is hard to combat with cheaper materials. Alot of it depends on humidity, materials and the gun you use. I'd say water sanding it and buffing would be a major ****** with Omni clear now, it gets hard as granite. I like fades myself, i think the over spray on the black gives it a little more definition. Anyways, looks pretty good in my opinion. Good job!!!;)

looks realy good, take pics of it when the bumpers are on it and the tires/wheels are cleaned up, ohh and chrome pipes would look good.

Bulkdriver- This was the first whole paint job that I have done myself so I am very happy with how it turned out, but next time I do a paint job like this again I will do a few things differently, like spray the top color before the bottom color, and make the fade in a little longer.

As for the fake scoops, they aren't my thing ether, but it's my friend's truck, and thats what he wanted so he got em.

The bumpers, he has a chrome front and rear bumper that are goin on the truck. He probably has them on by now actualy. Once he gets everything put back on, I'll make shure to have him send me some pics of it put all back together.

I'll do my best to try to get a sound clip, but IDK if I have the tools to get one, and now that I moved to PA it will be harder to get one too.
