im doing somewhat of a "rebuild" on my 400ex and i was thinking about getting a 416 bore kit and a stage 2 cam. is there anyone thats done this. i just wanna know about how much this is gonna run for and anything i should keep my eye out for while doing it

hey yea just have 81 clark racing do it with you hes preatty good at that stuff and knows alot about the 400ex. hahaha c ya in school buddie. stiches come out tomorrow riding sunday lol

piston: $130-160 depending on where you get it and what brand you get
gaskets: $30 or so for cometic flexsteel
Cam: $130-150 depending on where you get it
Bore:$30-80 depeing on the shop and if they charge per pass

that should be everything you need for a basic rebuilt. you could get valves, have the head P&P, and do some other stuff too.

i would atleast check to the valves for wear, replace the valve seal (not in gasket kit if you buy the cometic one) and check the rod for wear.

I got my piston, cam, jets and Cometic gaskets for $347 from C&D racing.

10.8:1 JE Thermal Coated piston, Stage2 Hotcam, Keihin jets, and cometic gaskets kit to be exact.

would i have to change the timeing chain to or should it be ok?

whats this im hearing about changeing the rods??
