well boys it can be done. if you have the right tools you can do anything. i have a 350x rear shock on my 250x with a 250x swingarm still there w/o cutting. all i did was fabricate some bushings and bearings and set it to the side of the 2 posts and she works like a dream. no more bottoming out for big man. ill take some pics as soon as i can. im very happy w/ the results.

Sorry dude,but putting a 350x rear shock on a 250 x is going backwards in engineering.Put a 400ex rear end(shock,axle and swingarm w/linkage)then your be doing something like I did on a 300ex.

im sorry, i have been reading all of these forums about swingarms for 250r, 350x, and 400ex swingarms all on 300ex's. Then there is the linkage thing. What exactly is this. I have seen pictures of shocks with mounts on the bottom that split off for two mounting holes, i know that is not what mine does. If that is what a linkage is, then can't you just take the bracket off and mount the shock directly to the swingarm? I feel stupid asking this, but i would really like to know. thanks

the linkage provides a progressive rate for the shock

theX1992, I'd like to see some pictures too. How does it ride now and how does it land big jumps? Is the ride height the same? Does anybody know if the shock length is the same or different? And by the way, were you able to put the 250X shock back onto the 350X so that bike would be complete too?

Dad400EX, lets see some pictures of your setup. Sounds sweet, did you have to do much if any cutting/welding? Did you use all stock 400EX parts?

I know my rear suspension stinks!

I put a 350X rear shock and swingarm on my 300EX and raced it once. Went back to the stock 300 shock for a better ride (which still sucks) because the 350 shock was way too stiff and abusive.

I'd go for a 400 or 250R shock myself as a cheap alternative to a new works or something.

I'm holding out for an Elka.

The 350X rear would be a good TT set-up, low and stiff.

i saw a 300ex at my race a few weeks ago and it was sitting so low in the back i thought there must be somethin f'ed up about it. I looked at it and it was the 300 shock and swingarm but it looked like a he mad a bracket that went lower than usual and it made it sit real low, like 4 inches lower. well the guy got the holes shot over 400exs and z400's so he must know what he is doin, if i see him another time , my next race is on nov 10th so i might see him then, if i do i might ask him what he did and get back to you guys with it.

sorry i havnt replied sooner

yes i have ridden with it. ive bottomed it out i think 3 times. it has about half as much travel but my bike rides higher. i dont jump any 50 foot doubles so its not to bad. you can adjust the spring lenght itself, a knob under the spring, and on the rezzi. i think its alot better than my stocker. i use to sit on it and the fenders would go down to the tires. im 265 and 6"5 so not many shocks can keep me up :P

sorry no pics as of yet

this may help though
