Start out with a pipe and jet kit, then move on to tires. Tires can make a huge difference in the way a machine handles. Then do things like trimming plastic, only if you want to, and switching to a set of handlebars you feel comfortable with. That should blow some cash and start you off.;)

The 300EX is lacking suspension more than power. I found it was better getting the shocks then the power. You can only go as fast as your machine will let you. But that is if you are jumping it. If not then yeah a pipe makes the biggest difference then get an air filter.

I just put a White Brothers E-Series Pro-Meg, E-Series Works head pipe, K&N, and jet kit in my 300EX. It is like riding a new quad. before it never hit the rev limiter, now it hits it fast in every gear. And it will stand up for me in 2nd if the tires bite. Now I need to order new tires and front wheel bearings. Oh the fun of having a quad.

Get a pipe(full system), filter, jet kit, modify your air box, & 14 tooth sprocket(for more top end) or a 12 tooth(for more bottom end).

If you already have it the first thing that you can do is take it back to your local dealer and trade it in for a 400ex. Dont dump any money into a 300 there are plenty of really nice 400s here on exriders for dirt cheap. That way you already have twice the travel and a lot more power. Hope you did'nt take that the wrong way just my thoughts???

you should sell it and buy a 400EX...

If you are going to sell it at all get a Z400 otherwise get some shocks first then a pipe and jet kit, I'd get one but my parents won't let me and I dont have the money right now, oh and get some new tires, that always helps.
