How are you going to give the title over to the new owner if you still owe and the bank is holding your title????

Actually, it could go both ways. It depends on the loan type, and who has legal "ownership".

With a car loan, the bank always has the title to the car, they have legal ownership until it is payed off. If you stop paying, they take the car back, because it's not yours, it belongs to them.

A quad is a little different, a bank can hold the title, but it doesn't always have to. Some states don't issue titles, and some banks don't want ATVs. Instead, they either secure the loan another way (like a car title), or they simply extend a personal loan without collateral. This is exactly how I bought my 250r. The bank didn't want the title to the ATV, so I gave them my car title instead to secure the loan.
