Awhile back I bought new sprockets for my 300ex. I got a 12,13,14 and even a 15 tooth front sprocket. Me and my buddy was out in the garage talking about quads and so on, and we started lookin at the 15tooth front sprocket for my 300ex. It looks way way to big to even fit without some major case work. Is there a way to make it work properly.

Just grind a little bit on the case saver.

Man I don't even have a case saver. The 15 tooths teeth almost hit the cases. The chain wont' even go on. Why do they even make it?

if your really needing the gearing of the 15 tooth front you may need to get it by installing the corresponding rear sprocket.

I went with a 36t rear.:)

i run one on my friends 300, you have to take off the case saver, and i ground down on the side cover a little for extra clearance. i agree though that you can get the same gearing out of the rear. he runs 15/36, but 14/34 is almost the same ratio. really no need to run a 15 front unless you need a ton of top speed with like a 15/34.

well im not sure if its worth messing with your cases, but rining bigger sprokets actualy frees up hp. search for some pics of james stewarts old 125, the sprokets on that thing were massive!!

Just use a dremel and LIGHTLY grind till you get clearance. Its not as much as you think. I've run a 15/33 for years on a 300. If you have a good strong motor they will pull a very tall gear.

I imagine one can get it to fit but i would think over time the chain from periodic "touching" of the cases would wear a hole through them eventually.Unless your gearing for the salt flats i cant see a use for a 15t.

You can get enough clearance so the chain won't touch the case. I raced TT on some fairly large tracks, so the 15/33 setup was an absolute necessity without having to go with some kind of custom rear sprocket hub. My 385 would top out about 69mph even with my fat arse on it.

When I bought the sprocket I didn't know awhole lot about gearing. I like bottom end power anyways. I've ran 14/36 with 18in tires and I think the bottom end sucked. I can't even imagine what a 15T would be like.

Anybody need a 15T front sprocket for a 300ex. Brand New $14 shipped

Maybe your motor wasnt in the best state of tune or you like to tow a pallet of bricks from time to time.:D I currently run a 14/36 combo and mine is a monster down lowand im running a topend oriented sparks cam...go figure.I may go down another tooth on the rear so i can turn that torque into usable thrust. But then again once i added the fcr carb,it was like another machine.

i dont knwo what the 300ex cases look like but i ran a 16 tooth on my banshee and i has 18's on it...it was a lot of fun, especially right after i got my cylender ported
