For open riding such as dune riding which would be a more suitable bike? I have seen it go both ways. I don't want this to be a thread of flamers. Just post your opinions; no bashing please! :) Raptor more reliable? Which would pull harder up the dunes? And lets start out as if they were stock vs stock. Thank you!

Its personal choice for the most part. 700s are torque monsters. You won't a problem making it up things... and the engines are so huge and potent... just made for getting power out of them. On the other hand, the YFZ is much more snappy, handles like a dream (Compared to a Raptor, especially) , and has the potential to run with the bigger bikes like the 700 Raptor. The Raptor should be able to out run the YFZ stock, with mods, it is debatable as to the extent of the mods. Money is the only option there.

Personally, I would choose the Raptor over the YFZ as a duner. Each have their strong points, but I honestly think that the Raptor has more potential as a dune bike.

I also own both a yfz 450 and a 700R. I have to say I like to ride th 700R better. I also have a honda 450R and I still ride 700R first. If your not interested in motocross than this is an easy decision. The 700R is more forgiving, easier to ride, and less of an energy drain.
