What gearing is everyone running? Post you motor, riding style, and gearing.

CRF450
MX type
14/38

I'm not sure is I want to go to a 37 tooth rear or not. Maybe it will stall worse, idk.

crf 450 14/38 mx, I'd just try a 37 on it and see how it runs, I find I don't tend to go lower then 3rd gear with this gearing when racing and 2nd gear starts easy.

KTM525SX (4 speed trans) 18 inch tires
MX
13/38

I start in first most of the time. In arenas, it's way too tall. I run the whole race in first, and it's a little bit too tall for the whoops. I'm gonna try a 12/39 for that this season. Going by your sprockets, CRF's must be geared quite a bit lower than KTMs.

yzf 426
14/38 mx

I just tried a 15/39 and its all bad, just can't get comfortable jumping 50-60 jumps in 2nd gear. Going back to the 14t front.

Has anyone else tried a 15t on the yzf426?

I floated between 14/37 and 14/38 for awhile, but I had 18" tires. I weigh 220 also. Looks like I'm headed back that way.

Up to you. Gear it the way you like it if it doesn't feel right.

Stock KX250 gearing and go up 3-4 teeth in the rear is where I would start.

If you search on ask or w/e you can find a chart that you type in the gearing/rpm/tire size/hp and it will tell you your gear ratio and top speed.

I found a gear thing like i said above on a go cart site.

heres a thing that might work
http://www.corral.net/tech/gearcalc.html

Go to ask and type in Gear Ratio Calculator

ok guys i got to race im quad lastnight.. its running a 14/38
it has the 04 ktm 450sx motor 4 speed.still first does 30mph
thats to fast and it seems to bog bad in 2nd. trying to power out of turns. do ya think going to a 13 in the front would help.

I figured the 14 would be too much. The 13/38 is a little high even for my 525 sometimes. Drop to a 13/40 and try that.

tryeda a 14/41 same as 13/38 it was way to short..it ran out of gears to fast..
