What is the difference between carbon and sintered metal brake pads? Which is better for MX? Any input will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Sintered metal is better for water and mud.

I know Carbon doesnt transfer heat to the caliper as much, but i'm pretty sure they have to be pretty warm to work at their best, so depending on the riding they may or may not be better.

Not sure if they're good for sand, mud, grit, etc either.

I've always been told by my dealer that carbon works great as long you you don't get them wet or ride in mud. I've always just got the sintered pads b/c of that very reason.

Aye, I bought a set of carbon pads for the rear of my 300ex before I knew the difference. They were toast after 2 rides, and I dont use the rear brakes that often.. lol. Mud ate them like sandpaper on chalk.. lol.

I'd like to see how ceramics perform. They rock on my Jeep.
