howdy. My bearing carrier is cooked on my 87 250x, the bearings were embedded in the sleeve and its just in dirty shape.. peices of the edges are missing so the clips dont stay in place.. it made my axle fall out yesterday.

my question is... what should i replace it with?
is there any more reliable carriers, what are some prices, where can i get one?

You can get a carrier just about anywhere, look here on this site.Expect to pay anywhere from $100 on up.i think a 350x carrier will fit that quad too,its has to be from a 86 though i think, the 85 was different.

If I were to do it again...

I'd just get a used carrier in good shape off of E-bay.. and some moose/aftermarket bearings/seals.

unfortunately i just paid 180$ for new Honda bearings and seals.. ugh.
now my carrier is f*d
theres one for 11 bucks on ebay but it looks pretty old.
around a hundred bucks would be ok but the ones i found were all like 250-400 bucks.
i'm in canada btw

you can get a used for less than 100 bux but, you are faced with the delima of shipping to canada ehhh? there are aftermarket atv parts distributors there in canada that are reasonable on prices. do a search for them.

well i want to order a carrier, valve seals, and the guy that i bought it from put the parking brake blockoff on it but the gasket on it is homemade and it leaks.. so i need a gasket for that..
i'm thinking maybe i should replace the rings along with valve seals to make sure its not gonna burn oil?

if you are leaking fluid out of the brake caliper, you probably need to rebuild it. there should not be any fluid leaking out of there.

i believe they do. in fact if ya remove the OEM p/b assembly to install the block-off you expose brake fluid.

on the inside on the end of the caliper theres a plate with 2 bolts holding it on.. and you can see fluid leak around it when i pump the brakes. the gasket is leaky.

there maybe an o-ring in there if im not mistaken.. if so ya can get those at your local automotive/hardware store. if not you can simply make a rubber gasket using a bicycle tube.

Your both mistaken, there is no gasket there. If it leaks from there you have a different problem.

lol looking at it i can tell it is a gasket, because its a little wider than the plate thing and sticks out.. he used cheap gasket stuff and its leaking.

that doesnt bother me though, i dont need brakes until i get the thing going...
white smoke, is it valve seals?
