solenoid gave out HELP

I recently had an intermittent no start and determined it to be a faulty solenoid.Problem is I havent been able to locate one.My buddy says that a car solenoid will work if I wire it properly.Has anybody done this and if so what car solenoid did you use??If this is completely stupid ,somebody hook me up with a solenoid please.I have a new set of shock boots that are red I will be glad to swap out for one.Let me know asap.Thanks.:D

a ford car cylinoid will work, a much heavier duty alterative. or go to your local lawn mower shop and get one for a yard tractor, same thing but at a much cheaper price. a lawnmower one is pretty much the same thing as your factory one.
