I rode a stock 04 450r and i recently got my bros 05 400ex, and I loved absouluteyl loved the front end lifting acceleration and tourq! Would a 12 tooth front sprocket work? after i pipe it and put an arifilter and rejet and all the other stuff on x-mas should i be able to hang with a stock 450r?? Also what about the way it is now stock would a 12 tooth be able to hang with a 450r in accel?

No, sorry but you would have to do some major motor work to make it accelerate anywhere close to a 450r.

Sorry buddy, it'll take some serious motorwork to even be able to hang with a 450. Atleast a 440 big bore with porting, high compression, big cam, full exhaust, cdi, bigger carb, and maybe even oversized valves. Your looking at $2,000+
Buying a crf motor is cheaper

440 kit...

a stock motor won't ever get you that feeling. just doesn't have the **** to it. a 12t will give you wheelie power...but you loose alot of top end. i woudln't suggest that.

I agree. You need a stroker kit or a seriously worked big bore to fend off a 450 ;)

my 426ex was around 4 bike lengths in front of my stock 05 450r when dragging by the time we were in fifth gear. my mods were:

11:1 426 ross piston with their light piston pin and thermal coated dome/moly coated piston skirt, thin head gasket, no base gasket (used hondabond), TC mx grind cam, sparks clutch, sparks X-6 pipe, CRF 40mm carb, GT thunder rev box.

if it was me i would get a good full pipe, like the sparks. plus get a cam such as the stage 2 or 3 hotcam. then get a higher compression piston. i would looking into a 406 or a 416 and use thinner gaskets. you will want a good rev box if you get a pipe like the X6. this will put you in front of a 04/05 stock 450r.

wtf....lmfao

a 416 with full exhaust, filter, jetting, 11:1 piston, and porting will hang with a stock 450, or beat it

the 450's are fast, but not untouchable

So true.If you are a good rider, just race one on a mx track.Or even through the woods for that matter. Its gonna be hard though to match one in sheer speed and torque out the hole. But if you got some dough it can be done.It wont cost anywhere near 2grand though.Only suckers would pay for service from so called "pros" that do the same "customer spec" headwork on every head regardless of the buyers powerband preferences.;)

I have a 416ex with a JE piston, vavles and TC XC Cam and I can hang with 450s till topend. I am atleast side x side or beating them until i hit 5th

The 416 listed in my sig will hang with my buddies 06 yfz that is piped and has a k&n in it, and my other buddies 06 450r, alot of it is the rider and suspension. on a drag i'll be even or beat them but on the track they'll kill me thru the woops and rhythm sections but for the rest of it my 416 will definitely hold its place.
