Do you guys think i could simply use a BIG C-clamp toapply pressure to remove my valve/springs? Has anyone done this before.

some valve compressors are just like a c-clamp. the only problem with using a normal one is that it has to have a hole or a slot in it so the vavle stem ahs somewhere to go when the spring is compressed. a normal c-clamp will not work without some modifiation.

I bet a man could make what ya need out of a normal c-clamp cheaper then buying one.

I just put a socket over the valve spring and hit it with a hammer, make sure you keep it over because the keepers will fly out if you dont. For reassembly i use a boxed end wrench with lots of pressure to do the trick. After working on so many 300s and 350x's i got pretty good at it.;)

Go to Auto Zone or Checker (Shucks, Cragen) and rent one; that's what I did. It was for an import (Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc) engine, but it worked fine. It's not really worth buying one unless you plan to do a lot of head work. Most people probably wouldn't use it more than a handfull of times in their lifetime.
