I know some of you cryogenically treat your transmission parts, but what about the axle? In drag cars we cold stabilize the axles with great results, would there be any down sides to trying it on a ATV axle. I was thinking about buying a wider G-force axle (because I'm cheap) and having it cryo treated to increase its strength.

the only thing I can think of is that, instead of bending a cyro treated axle will snap-off

Thats what I was thinking too, but I havent personally seen axles bend. I've just seen them break off by the lock nut.

They'll bend at the narrow section right near the hubs occasionally. But you're right most aftermarket axles seem to just snap at the carrier.

I snapped a stock and a lsr axle, right near the anti-fade. I have slightly bent my lsr axles on my bikes, not enough to really notice though. In all fairness the stock axle was original and the lsr I bought used (for $90) and was about 5 years old when I got it(in 2001) and it snapped in 04.
