OK, so I bought a Trail Tech Endurance computer off of ebay for close to half the cost of a new one. I've been really looking at these for a while cause we go out on long rides and its nice to know exactly how far we've gone in order to monitor fuel mileage and just to know how fast we are going. I used to use a GPS handheld, but I don't want to take a $500 GPS unit on bashing rides, so this is the next best thing. I don't know if anyone has one on here, but they are pretty sweet and fairly easy to install. You have to take off the front right hub and caliper and mount a sensor on the caliper bracket and replace one of the bolts holding the rotor on the hub with a bolt with a magnet in it. Then route the wire and mount the unit and you're done. It took me about an hour. I just cruised up and down the street to test it out and it seemed pretty accurate. It tells max speed, average, and current speed, along with a bunch of different distances and times. I might invest in one of the billet dashboards that they make but for now I just mounted it with the bar mount that it comes with. The angle isn't perfect but its definitly viewable while riding without having to take my eyes too far off of the trail, plus its kinda protected being so close to the bars. Heres a few pics.

The Renthals came on it when I bought it, but I think they are a CR bend. As far as mods, I have a Supertrapp slip-on, K&N filter in vented box, 450R front shocks, Tinner scoops, AC front bumper and nerfs, RAD twin row carrier, Powermadd gaurds, MSR clutch, Doxo gripper seat, 20" rear Holeshots, 21" front Razrs on custom painted rims, and a few other odds and ends. I'm hoping to get it into the high 60's maybe break 70 mph. Stock gearing though, so we'll have to see...

get rid of that stupid plastic clamp they use...get the billet protector...this is the only pic i have oif it right now and my camera is being worked on(dropped it=broke it)

i have had mine 400ex up to 68
only exhaust and intake mods for performance...big gun full race, k&n air filter with outerwears, stock lid...do i really need to say jetted?

have any of yall ever ridden next to a car to see if it's accurate?
thanks

09-19-2006, 02:35 PM
no, but i rode witha rancher that had a factory odo and that was pretty close...shortly after that, reset the tire size and it was almost spot on...so if the odo is accurate, then the speedo should be just as accurate

I got to test it out today, and I got it up to 66.4 mph. I was going into a small headwind but if it was calm, I probably coulda broke 68. I'm happy nonetheless. I might have to air up the tires and do another run, I'm obsessed now with getting a higher top speed (without taller gearing), the goal will be 70mph with stock gearing. I might have to shave all of the hair off of my body and go on a severe diet. I'll have to get my 185lbs down to a svelt 170 and maybe the new Maier bodywork might get it a little higher too. Any suggestions? Maybe it needs a wing....

If yu don't mind, how much did yu end up spending on that??

the endurance like in my pic is about $70...

the vapor like in this video...vapor in action (http://media.putfile.com/450r-vtrail-tech-vapor-computer) runs around $100 because it tells engine temp on a liquid cooled quad or outside air temp on a air cooled quad and has a tach...

the rattling you hear is the mounts for my prm skid plate...i had the plate off to change the oil, but left the clamps hanging on the frame...the plate was not put back on yet...

I bought my Endurance used on ebay for $45. But it was in great condition. I was gonna buy a new one, but took a chance on the used one and I don't regret it.

I've got one on my 400ex as well. It cost $75.00 shipped from Trail Tech. I installed it in less than 2 hours. It does require a small amount of drilling but, it's real easy to do. I have had my quad up to 61.8 mph. It was still climbing when I backed off. My stock front tire measurement was 1654mm. It's excellent for tracking riding time and miles for maintenance purposes. The only drawback is if the base gets wet, the readings are inaccurate. I just removed it from the base and dried it off and it worked fine.

Old thread.

I was talking about the base that the trail tech mounts to. After washes I have to remove it, dry the contacts and reset the computer or it flashes bogus numbers.

my front tires were 1659mm and i had room to make it out. it read 69.1 mph. i would imagine thats about what they all would run on pavement give or take a few mph. the endurance was great when i had it, but somehow i kept breaking the sensor wire.
