electrical and motor problem 400ex

My son just got an 03 400ex that has been rode hard put up wet it's got a major clicking sound in the top of the motor sounds like the timing chain to me, Could it be maybe the tensioner stuck or something like that? And another problem it started a couple of times the starter button was hard to push in and it made a pop like the starter kicked in but nothing happened and now no lights nothing can't get it to do nothing electrical check the two fuses by the battery there ok. Tried to jump it across the silenoid and nothing if that is possibile to do that?

Could be the timing chain. Or it could be loose valve specs. Or a worn cam etc.etc. On to the next problem. Sounds to me the starter went out. If you don't get anything while jumping the selnoid and the battery is fully charged then it's the starter itself. Hope this helps in some way. Adj them vavles! Then go from there. Sometimes the timing chain ten. do break.
