2006 Extreme Dirt Track ATV Racing - RD#7 - Tri City - ATV Race Coverage

Rich Hetrick, owner of Hetrick Racing, brought Round #7 of the Extreme Dirt Track series to the Tri-City Speedway. This weekend marks the first time an ATV TT race has been held at the 1/2 mile track, but the racers and fans were well welcomed.

Within just a few days, Rich Hetrick and crew turned the oval track into one of the most technical and longer tracks of the season.

Casey Bard had his roommate out for the weekend helping out with the event. Without the hard work of the crew, this event faced being canceled due to the weather conditions

Kyle Bard, ATVA MX Production B rider, along with his girlfriend, was out for the weekend to help prepare and repair the race course.

MotoTees had a trailer set up selling all the essential swag for an ATV racer

When I arrived at the race track, everyone had their quads cleaned up and ready to rock and roll

Like many of the top pros, many amateurs run both the EDT and MX series. I found several MX set up machines setting off to the side this weekend

Daryl Rath and his son both came to race this weekend

While Daryl worked in the trailer, Tucker spent his time off the track playing with friends.

Keith Little and the LoneStar racing crew were anxious to hit the track. I found out later the benefits of bring along a 4X4 to the races. (to be explained)

Keith stated that he knew his chances of stealing the championship from Tim Farr were slim, but that did not change his determination of bringing home a win this weekend.

With the soon coming to a closure, many riders had for sale signs hanging up to help pay for next years race machine.

The popularity of quads has been raised to a new level this year. More and more spectators are arriving at each event to witness the intensity first hand.

I am guessing this car belongs to a local frequent attender of the tri-city speedway events.

The younger generation continued to play, but you their racing attire assured me it was time to go racing.

[tamehart]

I have covered mostly MX events this past year and have never seen some of the techniques of keeping tires from collecting dirt on the way up to the starting line.

Frank Batista has the longest trip to each starting line out of the entire pro line up. Frank travels from California to each of the EDT races.

Unlike the motocross sereis, the EDT series is a one day event, typically.

An early delay Saturday was quickly resolved and the starting like was filled up and green light lit.

As soon as the racing started it seemed like the rain moved in. The downpour quickly fill the track up with water and need much attention to be able to get any more racing in

The rain created a challenge, but with Rich Hetrick in charge riders were given the best chance of getting back to racing. The crew pushed as much water off the track as they could.

while the crew was working on the inside track, three vehicle drove cruised around the outside oval.

An announcement then asked riders to come together and ride around the track to help drive the moisture into the ground. To help get riders to come out, Dour Morris said if someone didn't want to get dirt...he would take their quad out for them. When someone put up the offer, he made his word good and hit the track

Quads of all sizes were on the track lending a helping had.

some packed more than one rider on the vehicle to make the event more entertaining

The top 3 pro riders hit the track to show their support.

Keith Little was right there with Farr. Soon the two got bored and attempted the double on their 4X4. The both made the jump, but it was not an easy task

Harold "The Bee" Goodman was out on the course, but did not attempt the doulbe on his golf cart.

The willing riders helped enable racing to contine, without them...this thread wouldn't even exist

The racing began shortly before the sun disappeared. The lineup was rearranged, and the crew worked through as many motos as they could before midnight.

The racing continued into the night, but I will switch over to briefly cover the pro races

The riders meeting was arranged the night before, but the final pro race took place on sunday afternoon. Saturday night, it was Keith Little, Tim Farr and Harold Goodman taking moto wins, with Goodman setting the fastest time.

With the track starting to regain the blue groove corners, the pro riders were ready to leave their rubber. Keith Little left a small pile before he even reached the starting line

When the push came to shove, it was California rider Frank Batista snaging the holeshot award with Keith Little hot on his heels

By the first corner, it was Keith Little taking command of the lead. Little would command the lead for the remainer of the race. He was able to begin to pull away from Tim Farr crossing the finish with a 6 second cushion

Frank Batista would hold onto second place as they crossed the finish line the first time around.

On lap two, frank would fall victim to Motorsport rider, Tim Farr. Tim now sat in second place, just behind Keith Little. He would push hard, but kept from making any big mistakes

On lap three, Frank Batista would fall to the 4th spot. Harold Goodman slipped into the 3rd spot and was knocking the back door of Tim Farr.

Goodman would hold onto 3rd place for the remainder of the race and round out the podium

In his pro debut, Mitch Reynolds brings home 4th place finish. Mitch made the pass on Trent Powell on lap 4 to put him in 6th. On lap 6, he stuck a pass on Daryl Rath. The following lap he made his pass on Frank Batista to settle into 4th.

Daryl Rath put in a solid ride to take home a 5th place finish.

Adam Anderson would make the pass on Frank Batista on lap 16. Anderson finish out the weekend with a 6th place finish.

Tyler Smith earned a 13th place finish this weekend

Trent Powells luck would run dry just before halfway where he found himself near the rear of the pack after running up front. A 17th place finish would sum up his day.

Like I stated before, when this checkered flag dropped...it was Lonestar Racing's Keith Little out on top

Mitch Reynolds grabbed the early lead of the pro-am production race. Daryl Rath was hot on his heels however.

Reynolds held a good pace, but was not enough to shake Rath off his tail

[tamehart]

Rath was finally able to slip by and take command of the lead. He would reside in the #1 spot till the checkers flew

The battle for 3rd was heating up as Cody Anderson tailed William Scalisi.

Cody would be able to make the pass before the end of the race and round out the podium

[tamehart]

Keith Little was able to snag the holeshot in the pro-am production race, but Harold Goodman was on a mission to take the lead away from him.

Keith Little ran in mechanical problems when his swaybar broke, slowing his lap times. This was enough for Goodman to slide by on an option lane.

Goodman was able to hold onto the lead and take the win

Zac Wilet was running hard and crossed the finish line in 3rd place to round out the podium

Scott Morris was able to fend of Zack Stanley and hold onto the 6th place position

Suzuki's are slowly making their way into the EDT series. Louis Mcrvath was able to take his suzuki to a 13th place finish against some of the fastest TT riders in the country

Brandon Hill of Cana, VA took ran his Honda hard this weekend and was able to come out on top of the 265a class.

John Hinds did not let Hill out of his reach, but was unable to make a pass stick and rolled across the finish line in second

Casey Mckibben made the long trip from Avon Park, FL to compete this weekend. Casey ended his weekend with a second place finish, just behind leader Justin Lawson

Justin Loggins finished just behind Casey to take the last podium spot.

Just ***an rode hard to earn a 4th place finish.

[tamehart]

Drad Nofziger of Lyons, OH took home a top 10 finish this weekend in the 4-Stroke B class.

Tony Palillo, PA resident, posted a second place finish to get into the final. After another hard ride, Tony was able to take home another 2nd place finish.

Michael Turner was able to post up a top ten finish when he beat out Esposito for the 9th place position

[tamehart]

This class has proved to be one of the fastest amateur classes among in any series. The hard racing at throughout the weekend once again proved this class has some of the fastest upcoming riders.

Kendall Webb was able to beat out all these school age racers for the win

John Hinds put in another 2nd place ride in the 16-24 class

Ryan Partee finished just off the podium, in 4th place, aboard his sharp looking honda 450r

Andrew Ace of East Stroudsburg rode his #424 Yamaha to a 6th place finish

[tamehart]

Tony Nofziger's hard work paid off this weekend with another great finish, 8th place

The vertern +30 class is not to be mistaken for a slow class.

When push came to shove, it was Steve Borck on the #22 Honda coming home with the win

Stephen Stroud lost a few positions, but was able to hang onto 4th place when the checkers flew

[tamehart]

The womens class featured some of the fastest MX womens riders.

Paula Shank was able to take her Suzuki all the way, posting up two wins for the weekend, in both the qualifier and final moto.

Bailey Williams rounded out the podium on one of the best looking 450s at the track

Candace lee scored a second place finish in the qualifier, but had some problems and was forced to the rear of the pack and take home a 7th place finish

Kacee Frazier was not far behind and marked up a 2nd place
