400ex oil change

Wondering a good reccomendation for what type/weight of oil to use in my 03 Honda 400ex? I ride hard but i dont race. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Make sure you buy the honda oil.....Regular penziol, castrol, or whatever regular automotive oil doesn't work as well in atv's. With regular oil, in cold temps, it'll give the engine troubles eventually. The regular honda oil would work good, it's not necessary to use the synthetic.

Honda brand oil is not nessisary, you need to find 10w 40 made for 4stroke motorcycles and ATV's....Do not use regular motor oil as in your car since you need this oil to also work as a tranny and clutch lube.
Mine is Valvoline from Advanced Auto...you need to read the back of the container to see the API rating, your machine should call for SF or SG
