ok i just got a 06 450 er and love it so far other then a few problems.. its e start but the thing is a pain in the arse to start will not start with any gas.. also when crusin around a lower speeds and rpms i got to give it some gas it just falls on its face like misses a beat then just rips

all thats been done is the baffles been taken out.. the problem seemed to sorta go away after taken the baffle out but its still there

did you rejet after taking the baffle out? it needs to breathe better(higher flowing air filter and cut lid) and a rejet to run right with the baffle out. also, they are lean as all hell from the factory. put in a smaller leak jet and raise your pilot from a 42 to a 45. that all will take care of that bog. the bog is an fcr carb thing

as for the starter, you are not supposed to use an throttle when starting this. myself and lonestar_r just had our starters rebuilt, free of charge, because, like a lot of people, we did not know this. even the dealership didn't know this.

any idea what size to go down to on the leak jet?

a 42 worked good for me and lonestar_r

I think that is the pilot you are talking about, the leak is a 75 (I think stock)......

yes, stock is 75, i went down to a 42 leak and up to a 45 pilot from stock. the45 pilot was too rich, it made it even harder to start so i went back down to the stock 42 pilot.

I am running the stock 42 pilot and a 55 leak jet. I have read and been told the 42 pilot starts better then going bigger.

what are you going to run for a main? or do you plan to leave it stock?

cLogan

from the sounds of it ill leave it stock untell i do an airbox mod i believe im not sure are they set up lean on top end or on low/mid from the factory

09-19-2006, 06:35 AM
lean as hell on top...

the 45 PILOT made mine harder to start...it was noticably harder and i don't want that so i went back to the stock 42...

the 42 leak took away the low end bog caused by the fcr carb.

k so one size up on the main

what is stock for the leak... u all are sayin 2 different things 55 or 42 should i just try both?

09-19-2006, 01:14 PM
the stock leak jet size is a 70...the 42 worked really well for me...the bog is gone...there is absolutely no hesitation...lonestar_r has the same size leak jet with a filter, baffle removed and cut lid...and it works just as well

cLogan

what about the fact that i have no airbox modds done? still a 42 or should i go with the 45

09-19-2006, 01:59 PM
i would stick with the 42 pilot...i think lonestar_r put a 48 pilot in his and it is hard to start when hot...harder than normal...

aite i can do that keep the stock pilot..

so i go to my local honda shop and ask for jets... they say that i have the biggest main jet i can get... they kno nothing about the leak jet,

where can i get jets cuz my honda dealer is a idiot

before any mods I pulled the lid and baffle and put a 172 main. I couldnt ask for anything better. Worked real good. With a full exhaust system I think the hrc leak jet and the needle on the 4th is the way to go. keep the stock pilot either way

Definately get a bigger main.

I just pulled my lid, put in a CRF needle, a 42 leak and a 162 main and it really opened it up. No more bog and the throttle is crisp now.

The Yamaha shop should have the main and leak jet your looking for. Just tell them it's for a FCR carb. I ordered the needle and jets from Motosport Outlet, but I had to order it from the CRF stuff. I can't believe the Honda shop didn't have a clue, well actually I can believe that.

Good luck...

would u happen to have the part number off the needle.. im assuming that the only difference between that one and the trx is the crf is adjustable

and the part number on the leak jet?

you can get all the jets u need from HMF Engineering or Baldwin Motorsports.

I went to one of the local Honda shops and they had none of the jets I was lookin for on the shelf but what they did have was a 06 hrc kit so I talked them into selling me the jets out of there. I think it cost me 33 bucks for the main, needle, and leak.
