theres only 2 ways to fix it. 1 buy a new carb for racign and it doesnt let that happen cuase it was built for things like that. 2 theres a kit that mikuni make to covert there carbs to some kind of carb that wont let that happen. they have the kits at dennis kirk for like 30 bucks.

you really shouldnt run your bike on reserve all the time it dont let it get as much gas or something like that

its hard to explain the only thing i could figure out why is cause like UHHHHHHH hard to explain like you know you can run out of gas while it is regualrly on on and then put it on reserve and it will run cause there is just that little bit of gas left its hard to explain ha my bad if i have confused anyone or i am wrong

You get the same amount of gas to your carb no matter what setting the petcock is on. Your quad needs to maintain a certain float level in the floatbowl in order to run properly.
My stock 400ex carb did the same thing when I would hammer on it in the whoops and jumps.

clean your carb. sounds like there is a float stuck, thinking it needs more gas all the time, thus overflowing.

Understand now? It does not give you anymore gas flow, reserve just sucks gas from the very bottom of the tank. Thats why if you look 1 time when you have gas on and not reserve and you run out and look in tank there is still gas there because the tube is higher and thats where its sucking gas from but when you turn reserve on its like taking the tube out and it sucks from the very bottom of the gas tank.

there might also be a little screen on the reserve tube in the bottom of the tank to keep it from sucking up particles, or at least there was on my 81 yamaha.
