i have a k&n filter on my 400ex i was wonderin if there is any other way to clean it other than the special cleaner made for it.. plz let me no...THANKS!!!

i dont think washing it with water would hurt but the filter cleaner and oil bottles are like a 10 dollar kit at most auto stores..

Simple Green works good on the foam filters but I'm not sure about K&N.

I've used warm water and dish soap. Doesn't work quite as well as a dedicated cleaner but it does work.

you will ruin it if you use anything other than k&n filter cleaner and oil

if u use anything besides the k and n filter cleaner, u will void the filter's warrenty

A "comparable cleaner and oil" is just fine according to K&N. It doesn't have to be their stuff. Our good friend, The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, can be thanked for that. ;)
