Well i am an idiot, but i bought a 03 400ex and i was changing over pipes. The header studs were rusty, kept turning, and snap, 2 of them. So my question is, without taking the motor apart how do you get them out, is there a special way, i have tryed vice grips and then tryed to hit a socket over them...there in the tight.

please help.

Back in the day when I had my 200x I had this same problem. Me and my Father got them out. Here is how.

1. If possible grind the very tip of the stud flat, not too much though.

2. Next, use a center punch and make a nice punch in the center of the stud you have just ground flat.

3. Next, using a small drill bit, drill into the stud. Then, keep going to a bigger size bit until you're almost to the threads. (Careful not to cut into the threads, Take your time)

4. Finally, use an Easy-out bolt remover. Just tap it in until it seats. Then, turn the easy-out counter clockwise and remove the remaining stud.

5. If it still will not turn out, you may need to use a little heat. Careful not to much it could ruin your head.

I hope this helps you out. good luck!
