hey guys i was wondering how everyone was liking the cp pistons as far as quality,availibility and does anyone know what compression ratio's they come in?

CP has an excellent reputation. 04/05 450r stock bore shelf pistons come in 11:1, 12:1, 13:1, and 13.5:1.

i have ran two somewhat custom CP's in my 450 and i have been really happy with them.

lol, i knew that was coming. the first piston was a 12.25:1 HH piston. the second one was a 12.25:1 BW piston. they have a few performance enhancing characteristics. the flow paths were modified, both have fit over sized valves, the HH had underdome milling and lighter piston pin, the BW had a moly coated piston skirt, low friction hardened rings, the HH had only one compression ring instead of two, lateral gas ports, custom squish, etc. heck i can't remember all the details on these pistons.

13:1 seems like the best bet, a stock crf piston is a 12:1 (04' and up) and should bolt right in.

I've heard of some poor machine tolerances from CP. I know a sponsor over at the .Org has used about 40 different CP Pistons, and he had stated that every single one was a problem child.

cp pistons are IMO very nice.

what makes a piston preferred is the forging process.

Personally, I'd take a forged piston over billet anyday.

Forged pistons are better at retaining oil....

i see they offer a 13:1 and a 13.5:1. what would be the difference other than the obviouse* compression differences. is the 13:1 more reliable then the 13.5:1? what would you recomend for a MX only quad?

the 13.5 is the race version with dual wrist pin oilers, lateral gas ports, anti detonation groves, coated skirts.
