your chain is also worn to the sprockets if you flip the sprockets around they will wear to the chain the other way. may possibly break quicker. would be better on you you go ahead and replace them before you are stranded out somewhere riding and have to leave your bike somewhere to find someone to pull you out.

Uhm, NO! Thats a bad idea with even worse consiquences. Just buck up and buy a set of sprockets and new chain.

i forgot to mention that i will be replacing the chain. if i used the good side of the sprocket with the new chain would it work ok.

You need to buy new chain and sprockets. DO NOT flip the sprocket and buy a new chain.

Its a cool thought, but what if you reverse the sprocket AND the chain? I know I'm jkn. But seriously it would seem like two new surfaces coming together.

** Do it the correct way and replace both- or you will be doing it again **

its a roller chain so the surface would be worn evenly. and the chain is stretched and needs to be replaced anyway.

When you buy a new set of chain and sprockets, they will wear to eachother in a certain way. If you wear your sprockets until they are J shapped then flip them they will break, or the chain can slip off. Also premature wear to your new chain with the old sprockets. Old sprockets will wear a chain out faster. Also a old chain will wear the sprockets out faster.

It would be like rebuilding you engine and putting back in the old piston.

You can't flip the rear, it is counter-sunk for the screw heads. It's a bad idea anyway.
