I am Beginning to worry about a ticking noise coming from my engine it has done it since I bought it. I bought it new it seems to be getting worse it only happens when starting the engine cold after it is warmed up it doesn't make the noise or when I restart a warm engine. Thanks

Yamaha is right. Its the valves. New valve springs break in real quick when new. (springs get softer) Check them immediately.

Good luck, let us know if it works for you.

The exhaust valves should have .005 inches of clearance, and the intake valves should have .004 inches of clearance. Hope that helps.

divide inches by .03937. or .101 for .004 and .127 for .005
