Lean pop on a truck???

Hey everyone, me and my boneheaded firends @ school was watching everyone do burnouts in the parking lot afterschool and there was a truck there with a really built motor(carburated) and I keprt hearing a back fire and they was talking about how sweet sounding it was and I said he better get the jetting down on that thing before he messes up his motor, they said the back fire is just the exhaust... Does this make sense even on a truck???

IF it has those junky, hill billy, good for nothin glass packs on it, I would blame it on those. No back pressure is causing the backfire.

He is probably running too lean. The only way he is going to damage his motor from detonation.

wats wrong with glasspacks? i run them straight off my headers with just those on there. no other pipes. its almost like runnin with no mufler on the dyno. but yea when you let off the gass at about 5500 RPM it will backfire or at least thats what it does on my 502.

Yea, but I always thought BACKFIRE=RUNNING LEAN ??? What gives???

mine backfires when i let off the gas and jump from high to low rpms, and mine is alil lean

It will also backfire if there isn't any backpressure.... Just like when you run your quad with just a header and no pipe. Good way to bent valves and destroy a motor.

cense mi first pikup, all i have hade is glas paks. adn you say they r 4 hill bilis huh. ohhhhhh and anothr thing, resikling them to ur next rig doesnt mak them junk.:huh

Hmmm.. . I was stupid enough to ride an oldie dirtbike one with no muffler or header once. Well, you were right good way to bend valves and warp my cyclinder head haha. Sucker was loud though, that was the point anyhoo. Good spend of $50
