alright, so after you got all the basic bolt on chit, what would be the next step for reliable performance?

i was looking at a Hot Cams midrange cam, but would i necessarilly NEED to run that with a higher compression piston? would it be alright to JUST run an aftermarket cam, or would anything else be neccesary?

i have heard that if a cam requires you to use stronger springs and buckets, that that will wear down engine componenets a helluva lot quicker. i would basically be riding some local MX tracks so i am not looking for a Doug Gust Caliber engine here. just a lil more power.;) thanks for any help.

You can feel safe with a Hotcam. You do not need an aftermarket piston to run one. My friend's 400ex cam took a dump on him and he is now running the Hotcam stage I without any problems.
