what would be the best bore and stroke for dragging on the sand? i want to keep up with the 450s without buying a new quad or doing a hybrid. If i do do hybrid are there any kits for it???
thanks

yup, or there is a company that makes a 502 kit, but i don't remember what company it was.

If I was planning on building a sand drag bike out of a 400 I would go with a 440 stroker setup or a 460 with a lightened flywheel and all the other goodies.

How modified of 450s are they? Pretty much any bore of EX set-up well will beat stock and slightly modified 450s. :macho

the 450s have pipes, and stuff like that. nothing too much but enough. im looking for more of a top end kit. people have been telling me that the 460 is mostly bottom end. will that still help me for beating them? by the way i drag at boxcar and places like that in coos bay.
thanks

What do you mean by top-end kit? As in raising your top speed, or in a sense of the powerband?

All you need to beat slightly modified 450s is a nicely built 416.

i mean in the powerband. i dont really need anymore bottom end but if i can i would get all of it instead of just one section like botton end or top end. would the 502 kit be reliable? or the 460?
thanks for all the help

thanks for all the help I am running a mildy done 440 (cam, headwork, 12.5:1 piston, full exhaust, etc.), and it sounds like a set-up that you would like. It has tons of torque on the bottom end, and it really comes alive in the upper RPMs, so I find that it finds a good balance between bottom end and top. I have no problems keeping up with 450s of any kind... in fact, most 450s with only a few bolt-ons, like exhaust, get beaten pretty easily.

My stroker has no problem keeping up with and beating some of the new 450's. Where your machine makes power is all in the cam choice. Mine makes more low end than a stocker and pulls hard to the rev limiter.
