The only thing that was a pain in the butt putting my swingarm on was the metal bushing that goes on the right side of the swingarm, that holds the rear caliper bracket in place. Make sure you sand either the inside of the bushing or the post it goes on good. I didn't clean it up good enough and pounded it on and had trouble with it binding the carrier when I try to adjust the chain. You'll want it to slip on with a little force instead of going caveman on it like I did.http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/e1ae99bc/bc/Smokers+Pics/ride3+001.jpg?bcsD1l9AblD5Gw8C :p

Thats a pretty nice stocking stuffer there rico. haha.

This might sound newbish, but what advantage does that swing give yah? I see the better bearings there and the grease spot ( love those )

If you extend the axle will you gain anything, or is it just way heavier duty then the stock one or something.?

by getting a longer s-arm, it makes it easier to take off w/ out having front end come up and it's better in the whoops and rides better too

no a longer swing arm gets less traction...but will handle better... why do you think TT guys run -4 '88 arms...traction.. and a 88-89 r will launch way harder than a 86

Dave400ex
09-02-2002, 09:14 AM
Crap, yeah that`s right. The TT guys run those short swingarms to get more Traction. Didn`t think about it.

Yes, it does get less traction, but they dont handle any better for flat track. They run those short swingarms for traction and for tighter turning in the little hair pins.

If your having trouble getting traction because the +1 1/4 swingarm on a 4-stroke you may want to invest in some tires. Traction hasn't beeb a problem on any 4-stroke I've ridden unless it had baldies :p

I like riding baldies!

Anybody on here race TT? That stuff is awesome, but you have to have one killer motor.

kicken250x

I finished 2nd in the main the first night...( Lost to a 440 that was 6 inches wider at both ends... ) I finished 2 feet off his rear tire and pullin... Second night (Sunday) I raced the same kid and pulled a first out of it. Ran the 250 class as well. Finished 3rd in the heat and 3rd in the main in that class. I was 2mph faster than the leaders in the main though (66-67mph to their 64-63)

The -1 will give me good starts and the bike is so low i cant pull the fronts up in 2nd gear on asphalt. It should be about perfect.

Dave400ex

Do you have A-Arms on the 400? That may help you some if you don`t. How could he be 6 inches wider in the rear if you have your Axle at +4?

They are american racers. 6 inch wide front, 8 inch wide rear. I need to go 10inch in the rear though I think. I will probably need to replace the rears once a weekend, and the fronts every 4 races...atleast for castle rock, because they burned off quite a bit on sunday.
