ive always wanted a 250r and now that i finally got my chance to get one i was wondering how they r still racing the 450s. do they have a shot or do they need like a ton of work. im going to start racing motocross are they still competitive?

i like the 250r ALOT more than my brothers 450r:)

i have have a 265 stroker the guys i race with ride a 440ex, i thinka 540 or 560 preditor,450r. all are pretty close nobody realy pulls a way.
i race the open studed class. do all right
in the summer i do a little drag racing two weeks ago i took 5th in the open two stroke class with lot of banshees and sukis . when it comes down to it i think it has alot to do with set up(sprokets, tires and how you handle your machine).

i have a choice of a 250r or a 450r and im leaning towards the 250. im not scared of racing or the bike at all and im pretty good. i can get used to a bike very easily. so it does do pretty well overall against the 450s? i have plenty of time to play with gears and tires because im not starting to race it till may or june. thanks guys

They all went to the 450's becuz, they are new, easy to get, and the pro's cuz sponsorships, factory rides, factory support, I'm sure they get a lot of free stuff and stuff paid for, with the 250r's it was them by themselves, but now they all got a bunch of people behind them, honda is with them...............

I raced my cousins 450r with my 250r, my mods in sig, he had a filter and jet kit. He got the jump on me, but we were real close, then I hit high 5th, and then 6th and pulled away.

If you get a 250r you will be right up there with them guys, especially mx how the 2-stroke pulls out of turns.

Also, riding good helps too.:D

I had a 330R on my 250R. I would not have problems passing people. Just hope that you like to work on it and know what your doing. I had a pic but I will post it later.

They'll still run great against 450's.... Its all the rider. You can buy mine... every mod you could ask for, all recently done. $4000 takes it....

hondardr4life- i was actually lookin at yours in the for sale section but im gonna be buyin one in like december when my semester of college is done... if its still around then i might just have to take it off your hands

440ex dragger- what are u talking about working on it? is it harder to keep an r runnin good when it has that much work done to it? i never owned a 2 stroke i have only ridden them so i really dont kno much about them

Not really your gonna have to work on it more though. With Jetting and stuff is gonna break, regardless if you work on it everyday or not. Your gonna need to replace the topend, then reeds, and other things. Just a lot of Service I guess.

Just get it dialed in and then just a top end once a year or so. Its easy and fun.

They're so easy to work on, no valves, timing chain, rockers, nothin, cylinder, strait to head.

Even if there are a couple 450's faster, there's nothin like the 2-stroke snap I'm tellin ya. Puts a smile on my face every time.

My 330r will keep about 1-2 bike lengths on a 450r in about a 100 yard drag and end up about 3 bike lengths ahead. The 450r was piped, filter and jetted.
