400ex axle bearings

i have a 2004 400ex and my axle bearings are completely gone and i was condering if i have to just replace them or the hole axle and carrier and all???...thanx

as long is the carrier isn't damaged and the axle wasn't damaged you can buy bearings and seals for around $30 for the stock carrier

how can i tell if the carrier and the axle are damaged

take the axle out look for any broken or worn aluminum

there is mteal shavings by the chain side

could be from the bearings does it look like the bearings made grooves or wear marks on the axle and is there any cracks in the carrier if no just replace the bearings
