takin off 1 of the red parts th@ goes against the rim on the rear axle!!!

if i take off the pin, & the lugnut lookin thing in the middle....the red part th@ goes against the rim will come off right????

The red thing is called a 'hub' and yes, it will come off after removing the 'cotter pin' and 'hub nut'.

I wouldn't ride without the pin. If you broke your cotter pin, go to your local auto shop and buy some new ones, they are cheap and should be replaced anyway when you pull them out, because everytime you bend them the weaken, without it, your hub nut can loosen off, resulting in your wheel falling off. Which would be bad.
