I have a 98 S-10 with a V-6 Vortec in it...I could lay blackies for as long as I want in that thing. I was going to get a chip for it, but I don't know if I should.

Well, I've heard a V6 with exhaust before...My friend has a V6 Ranger, and he put duals on it with pea shooter pipes. That thing is loud. I might put an exhaust on it, and the chip would give it alot more pep. I've had guys with full size trucks with V8's be surprised by my S-10's power.

close your tailgate, your not saving gas.

is the s10 dropped? if so how much of a drop?

I can put it at a dead stop, mat it and leave a blackie for as long as I want. Hell, I can even be going 20 and mat it, and leave blacks for as long as I want. ;)

I dunno if I believe that part. Your going to have to prove it chad...on dry pavement.

Which 450?
09-11-2006, 05:55 PM
I had an s-10 with a 350 in it, I couldnt get it to not do burnouts.

Look at my road Josh. The one strips were mine, and the newest one was from matting it at 25. If I'm lieing, I'm dieing. :)

I think a few of you have been sniffing too many burnt rubber fumes... the BS is getting pretty thick in here.

Also in the first pics of this thread, you are using your brake to get the rear end going. Why are your brake lights on while your doing a burnout???? :o

When you jack on the brake and jump on the gas, most cars will sit there and smoke the tires. Not too impressive if you ask me - just blowing a bunch of smoke.

:D

When someone thinks of an S-10, they always think of 4 bangers...Why? I have a V6 Vortec in my S-10. I don't know about the manual though. Mine's automatic..So that MIGHT make a difference.

I've seen power braking with a manual happen once. You have to make your left foot cockeyed farther than mine could twist. If he can do that, more power to him.

When you said your truck will lay a long patch from a rolling start (20mph) your story went down the tubes fast than your truck will do a burnout! :o

Oh well, you kids have fun in here - I left my hipwadders at home...

And how is that? Why is it so unbelievable that an S-10 could leave blackies going 20? But maybe I'm wrong. I mean..I wasn't sitting the drivers seat or nothing.

But whatever, believe what you want. I'm going to bed.

I do have to agree with MOFO on this one. The BS is getting pretty thick.

I had a 99' s-10 with the v-6 in it. It was a torque hog of a motor, but it sucked ***, horrible gas mileage and low hp. It was 2wd, it would definately smoke-em no problem, but after the burnout, if you kept on the gas it would hesitate a little and putts down the road. That 4.3 might be a reliable motor, but it sucked.

Im with every one else, no way it did that or will ever do that, with a stock 4.3, that motor only puts out about 180-190hp max. and thats at the motor just think how much gets to the wheels, not much, I have owned a couple dimes before with the 4 banger and the 6

the truck is a 5 speed so its not like i takes no skill at all

iono about the v-6 but the 350 will lay rubber wherever, whenever. all the weight is in the front end and no weight over the back wheels

...and you missed my entire point. I never said you could not do it with a stick. I said most vehicles on the road will do a burnout if you keep the brake on - not very impressive, just a waste of good tires.

let me say from experience doing 20mph a vortec 4.3 stock WILL NOT BREAK LOOSE, with out the help of the brake or dumping the clutch if its a standard, i have a sonoma extreem 4.3 liter with the factory performance chip, suspension, with my 10.5 tires i can just get it to break free from a dead stop, with my winter/standard tires i can spin em pretty good, but when push comes to shove and i nail the gas i dont wanna spin, i wanna GO, which the 4.3 does very well with really good pull in second and third (automatic) but non the less no way in hell its breaking loose on dry pavement at 20

Future project is an LS6 for my 2001 zq8 s10. The only problem is California emissions, don't know if I can get it to pass.

The hell with burnouts. I have an easton posi on my truck. Launches really well and no more embarrassing one leggers around turns. Very very aggressive posi, love it!

My grandpa had a 99 S-10 with a vortect v-6 2wd, 1 wheel peel and depending on what kind of pavement you were on (black stuff here in indiana) you could break them loose.)
EDit: Break 1 wheel loose):D

Well, I tried it again. I don't know if it was a fluke that one time, but I must have hit a bump or something. Because yesterday I tried it and I matted it at exactly 20. It did it for about a second and caught. My roads suck. :(
