Not necessiraly.

I have a Denton. Bought it oh.. 6 years ago. It is black, and it is rebuildable. So if it's used.. it could be an older model that's both black and rebuildable.

Check for the snap ring, as the others said.

about how much does it cost to rebuild one? and do you send it out to someone or do it yourself?

its $15 and all you need to do is get the fluid. Basically all it is, is fork oil, but I would def by the kit made for it. since it prob comes with new seals.

Thanks for the correction. I asked Denton how to tell when I bought mine and they gave me the black/silver answer.

Do you just get that from Denton or does it have to be ordered from someplace like C&D?
