It has been awhile since I posted some of the changes we have made in the Open section.

We just installed his 450R shocks that were set up for his quad by C&D Racing

A Sparks system was added

Only 20 minutes on the new front shocks but they seem to be working well.

He cased a new double extremly hard but it was the frame that took the impact as he landed smack dab on top of the landing peak:p I wasnt finished the jump and he hit it anyway:ermm:

Are you using the relocator bracket AND long travel arms, or just the bracket? Looks much better with the wide front end.

Pappy

We are running the JB bracket and 400ex Burgard HD +1 arms

how does the Sparks work?

Pappy

After the brief ride, cody said it seemed more powerful, better response and pulled good down low. He had been complaining of needing more power to pull out of corners etc.

I have to rejet and then we can see how well she pulls up top

Right on; I couldn't really tell if they were ST or LT arms. I wonder if it would be possible to mount the shocks in the stock location and run LT arms? That would be a pretty sweet setup. Six one way, half dozen the other, I guess.

i think burgard actually makes a LT arm setup so you can use 16 1/4" shocks in the stock location.

Looking good Ken. I think Cody will be impressed once you get the jetting spot on. I noticed a huge gain on the top end with mine especially compared to the stock pipe. With the stock pipe I found I had to short shift to go fast but with the sparks I can rev it out much more. Is that the sparks race series or did you get the new quiet core?

Pappy
09-09-2006, 10:55 PM
I dont think there is anything in this pipe...:p

It looks like a straight pipe so no quiet core:p I will order one for sure though

Pappy

It is 43 inches wide with 4-1 rims

Cross training is very important today. Alot of the fundamentals needed for MX cross over to XC. Cornering, braking/accelration bumps, jumping etc all are found in XC racing. Knowing what to do when something happens is the key to being a solid rider no matter what you race.

This is also the reason he trains on a bike, learning balance, picking lines etc all help better his performance on a quad.

JRP

couldnt of said it better pappy, i was talking to cody about riding bikes, and he said that it helped him in all aspects of riding. He said that cornering on a bike helps him alot on a quad, helped him get faster.

Cody has the determination and skill to accel at whatever form of riding/racing he does. The decision is ultimately up to Pappy as to which venue that is.I have talked with Cody quite a bit and I get the impression as long as he is ripping on something with an engine on it.........he is happy :D

I'm curious to see what the quiet core is like. I have the old style disk type spark arrestor on mine and it quiets it down a lot but if the quiet core is any quieter I may switch cores in mine. If it is possible.:ermm: I haven't checked the dB's on mine but I'm sure it's much lower than the race version.

I saw it up at Breezewood, but this was before the C&D Shocks, Sparks, ect, but it was still nice.

Any more info on the tusk nerfs? If they are holding up good, You might just con me in to getting a set.

You guys should come down this way sometime and check out a few of the VXCS Races, they might be a little more open to a Youth Production GNCC class.

After some laps in the woods, the sparks pipe is coming off. it does work, and would be killer for mx but it is a tad much for cody in the woods. he is a pretty smooth rider and the peaky power would help him on the mx track no doubt.

Pappy,

How much would you say you have invested in that front end? If it works, I'll be second in line for it. :D

09-16-2006, 05:39 PM
So pappy, what kind of exhaust are you puttin back on the 300?...,my Yoshi Rs-3 gives a really smove but srong pull. He might like it....sometimes i wish i would have gotten a 300...just for the reverse...gettin off and pushing gets old really quick.:p

I'd get a HMF. They are great for all round riding, my WB isn't too bad either, but I may be getting a HMF silencer soon.

I might be interested in selling my WB for your sparks plus a little cash if your interested pap's. Cody's already ridden on it.
