same speed as a stock 400ex.

motor work does not make it faster. your top speed will not change unless yuo change your gearing. all motor work does it allow you to get to your top speed quicker and give you the ability to pull taller gearing so you can go faster.

A dif piston and exhaust can let your rpms go higher and in turn make you go faster, it's not all about gearing. Get a rev box while your at it. What compression piston you looking at?

no, it wont. the factory rev limiter is set at 9250 RPM, a different piston and exhaust will not change that, it will just hit it easier.

Listen carefully:
The ONLY way to gas FASTER is to get higher RPM at the wheels either through taller gearing, taller tires, or a higher rev limiter. Pistons, cams, exhaust, $300 port jobs, bigger valves , or even a stroker motor will not make your bike faster, but simply get you to the factory top speed quicker.

I said to get a dif rev box...........read before you type then you wont be temped to correct everone. Someday you will learn that not everything you say is right...

Like he said, you need a rev box to let your rpms go higher, you also need motor mods to be able to get them up higher.

i did read. It is how you have it stated in there. you say that a piston and exhasut will let your RPM's go higher. and talk about the Rev box as an after thought "Get a rev box while your at it". you said to get a rev box, but it is just how you have it stated like teh piston and exhaust will help and that the rev box is kinda an afterthought.

BTW i know everything i say is not right and i dont claim to knwo everything. i jsut try to help people out where i know i can.

white bros. rev box for $45.00 bucks from www.Rockymountainatv.com

is the best upgrade i bought for the money, sets rpms to go to 10,500 and has a more aggresive timing curve whitch in turn means the machine gains incredible power through the poower band all though up untill you top out 5th gear. has accelaration like a two stroke, but you do not loose any low end.

I have a votex cdi/revbox whatever you wanna call it. I love it, it has 10 programable timing curves. some for low, mid, top and like 3 for each. Gives you all the choices you need, also comes with a handlebar mounted switch which allows you to switch from 2 dif setting on the fly.

someonene tole me that they make your bike really hard to start

It fires up as soon as I hit the start button. I mean right as I hit it. The box is supposed to increase spark energy, advance the timing(which is up to you how much), raise the rev limiter.

a stock bike will not hit the rev limiter.

that said, a stock bike will do about 70mph without hitting the rev limiter. (they rev to 6000-7000rpm stock) with mods, it will hit the limiter thus achiving higher revs, spinning the tires more. that converts to a higher top speed. if the bike is already hitting the rev limiter with the mods u have, then more mods will only achieve faster acceleration.

the sparks box is like the WB's box. the dyna ones on the 400ex are known to go out too.....on the 450r the dyna is the way to go. on the 400ex i have had best luck with the gt thunder. you get better throttle response and it starts much easier than the sparks, WB's, etc.
