Are you checking the spark when it's hot and won't start? It might be weaker. If that's the case I would start testing ignition system components. I'd check the coil first, I've known them to get weak on cars when they get hot.

sounds like the coil. I had one that did the same thing when it got hot and it ended up being the the problem.

^^^^ coil. Mine went bad but i still had spark when i checked. They tend to burn out over time.

Have you looked at your reeds? Are they chipped or not sealing properly?

What size pilot are you running?

What is your air screw set at?

All things to consider if your ignition is working properly... (fat blue spark... NOT yellow)

Uuuuhhh oooohhhh, your using the guess and replace method to fix your problem. It's expensive isn't it when it doesn't work! Save yourself some money on the next part your going to guess and replace with a 50% chance of it working and buy yourself a multimeter and a manual.

my brothers banshee did this before, and i went through the carb and it quit doing it... i cant think of what would have caused this, or why a logical reason of how/why the carb woulda caused this, but it worked... its worth a shot...

my atc250r did the same thing, wouldn't start when hot, but cold yes. I have a cr igntion on mine. I tore it down later that week and two of the reeds were cracked, I replaced the reeds with a cr250r rad valve, 1/2 spacer, and new gaskets it started perfect each time after.

i still have this problem guys, just havent gotten around to messing with it yet.

Is it bad if there is a little rust on the flywheel? I took the stator cover off the the flywheen had a light coating of rust on it. I tried to take it off but it would come off. How would i go about prying this thing off ( the fly wheel) i took the nut off and everything.

Also could it be the top end by any chance? I havent been runing high octane fuel in it. It is pretty hard to kick, and i going to find out for sure how much a psi it makes tonight.

From what i know, the cylinder is a 295. Port and polish by duncan racing. They also bored out the cases for a 340 cylinder, the head has been milled. has 38mm carb keihin. Bills header with lrd silencer, aluminuim exhaust flange, BR9EG or S spark plug, and boyesen rad valve with carbon reeds (brand new)

Did you check the reeds? They caused my bike to act the same. Incase you didn't know 85/86 atc250r used the same motor as a 86-89 trx250r. I had a 310pv on it at that time also.

my rad valve has BRAND NEW reeds just put in there 1 ride ago. the rad valve has been ''bored out'' could this make a effect on this?

I didnt get teh compression gauge yet. So i have to get that ...

Peeping tom- I have checked on all the connects. But its only when its hot, not cold.

Also what does this flywheel puller look like?

probally a lot of hours. I cant tell you because i bought it used from a guy who bought it to make a profit, but didnt know much about it.

i Will pull the top end off tomorrow and take a look at it. Last time i had the top end off, the piston and cylinder didnt look bad at all, but i am no expert. I will post pics
