how do we remove the limiter in reverse on my 05 660?

bellow the front sproket there is wire that plugs onto the case, all u have to do is ground it.

now then [not that im doubting you] i'd just like confirmation on this......
with most fuel injection bikes ive modded, if you short out clutch-switch wires, or mess with gear-selector-output-switches you end up running what they call a neutral map!
basically fueling and ignition are 'softened' because the ECU is detecting a faulty-switch......
now i realise my 660 is carbs not fi, but the ecu might [i dont know, that why im asking] adjust ignition if it senses a wire is ground ??
im hoping its the other way round...... im hoping the ecu is used to seeing that wire 'closed' / 'ground' when quad using forward gears......and that by grounding it permanently all thats happening is the ecu is thinking the bike is still in a forward gear when in fact its in reverse ;)
and therefore not affecting ignition in any way ?

sorry for long reply, im just a mech-junky who like to know all the facts :D
