Wanted to do a little writeup on my new setup.

Brian at WPP Racing did all of my engine work. He put in a 13.1:1 Wiseco piston, Hot Cams Stage 2 Cam, and Ferrea Super Flow intake valves.

Can't really say enough about Brian. Great guy, super great job on my R...and he is fast. He was able to work my quad into his normal work load of jet skis and personal watercraft, and finished the install in 2 days!

Needless to say, I'm extremely satisfied with him, and his professional attitude. Again, super great guy, and thanks again Brian for getting everything finished so quickly.

Onto the goodness....

Piston install: 13.1:1 Wiseco - standard 94mm bore (2005)
Cam install: Hot Cams Stage 2
Valve install: (2) Ferrea Super Flow Intake Valves (standard size)

He had all the gaskets, fluids, shims, and tools right on hand....and his shop has a super great setup...EXTREMELY clean.

I'm very greatful that Brian went ahead and inspected all my valves. He saw that the intake valves were worn/sunk in, and called me right away recommending replacement. If he wouldn't have inspected the valves, I'm afraid that the worn intake valves could have led to big problems on down the road.

Final product is great. The quad sounds great. I can actually hear a difference in the drive train with that big cam and piston in there.

Love the smell of that burning 110 octane Sunoco Purple as well...I'm sure thats doing wonders for my brain cells ...but oh well.

Went out for a ride today.

Did about 2 hours of cruising....nothing more than 1/2 throttle to try and break in the piston rings a bit. Running the Honda GN4 Stuff. Came back and changed the oil....put some GN4 back in again.

It has a great midrange hit. The bottom pulls great, but when the midrange hits, its like it pulls my socks off. Keeps on pulling hard all the way up. Stayed away from the limiter today, but I didn't feel any flat spots...not even on top with th HCS2.

Didn't do any extreme riding, but had fun today. I'm very satisfied with the build. It gave my engine a big gain all the way around. Before the cam and piston, I had an awful time trying to pull a wheelie in 4th gear. I would have to be going up hill, stand up on it, gas it, and yank up on the handle bars...and even then...it would only come up half the time. And fifth gear wheelies....no way.

Today, I was going down hill in 4th gear, stood up, and gave it some gas, and she stood up on command. So it feels like I acquired a good bit of torque from the build. And 5th gear wheelies are no longer a problem either And this is with 14/38 gearing.

Anyways, I'm very satisfied. Next weekend I'm going to try my 13T front sprocket out and see how I like that.

Carb = 175 main, 50 pilot, 2.25 turns out A/F crew

Questions & Comments welcome.

i would recommend you bump up your jet to a 185 bud and take your air box lid off....maybe a 190 but man youll notice a good bit just from a open lid:D

I run the HRC lid....take a look at my signature.

and the 175 is a bit rich on my setup.

That port and polish might be whats makin the difference. Wish I could afford that haha. Lucky to have the Piston/Cam/Valve install paid off.

Port and Polish will be next tho :)

well see im my own mechanic, been doing it for years and i paid 300 for piston and cam, 100 for exhaust, 25 for filter, and port and polish was FREE... i did it myself and it turned out perfect so for a total of $425......i bet shes turning some good numbers on the dyno

Very nice...wish I had some gearhead knowledge. Working on that slowly but surely.

I'm a computer nerd...3rd year at college after a Computer Information Science degree :)

AKA Elduner from the Org.

a 185 seems kinda rich... I run a 14.1, Port polish with KW valves and springs, HRC cam, No airbox w k&n filter.outwear, No fan, Full ESR Pro series pipe.

I run a 175 with 2.5 turns out on my air screw. I run at sea level down here in Cali... Im going to be installing a 172 just to make Boogie (my bike) run on the sweet spot.

Just my advise... you can afford to go down atleast to a 178-180mj ... makes a world of diffrence...

I also do all my own work... Well exept porting...
