swing arm chain question

i have an 06 450r and want to know if i just unbolt the stock swing-arm skid plate is their any other type of chain slider i need to get or will it be fine

I trail ride and race XC. I have never ran a swingarm skidplate and never had problems because of it. Most people will tell you that it is mandatory, but as long as you are not rockcrawling you will be fine:p

I agree with Bama but, if you want to run something T.M. Designworks makes a really nice guide that I run for mx.

it would be better to have the guide right? and do u know where u can get them at?

Rockymountain has them for 50 bucks. I think it's worth the price for the extra protection for a chain coming off.
