Alright right now i know i am running rich. i have a 170 main with a full exhaust and a k&n powerlid and filter(on a 400ex). everything else is stock. my question is... is it really worth it to get a smeller jet in there? how much power do you think i am robbing with the 170? it runs fine with the 170 but i am just wondering if i am robbing power.

Yep. I think so.

Main jets are about $5 and they take about 5 minutes to change on a 400EX. So, yes it's worth it.

Running a little on the rich side can help keep running temperatures down but it's easy to go too far. Running too rich will cause carbon deposites to build up and that can ultimately hurt reliability.

I'd prolly go ahead and get a 155 and 158 also. It just depends on your elevation and temps. Even the particular formulation of fuel in your region can make a difference.

Personally, I'd rather spend an extra $10 on jets I didn't really need and get them all at once then wind up using the smallest/largest one I have and wonder if even smaller/larger would be better. Plus, the more jet sizes you have on hand the better equipt you are to make adjustments as the weather changes or if you go on a ride at elevations different than usual.

You could also just get a 155, 160, and 165. That's not really what I'd recommend but it is an option.
