Anyone had trouble with blowing head gasket on 440 kit?(it was not a cometic)

You have HD Studs?

It's a pretty common problem with the EX when you start upping the bore and compression. Heavy duty head studs is the common method of combating the problem.

I don't HD studs and the compression is 12.5:1. It has a wiseco piston, stae 2 hot cam, 05 450r carb only ran for maybe an hour. Is there a standard break in period after making these mods. I am having probelms starting once it gets hot. It's aslo smoking alot (oil) once it gets warmed. Would the smoking be from the rings or valves? Seeing how I cann't see anywhere the head gasket is pushed out. Thanks for any help new ath this.

I am no engine expert. But I would get HD studs, that seems like alot of compression to be running standard studs.

Is it smoking from the exhaulst or next to the head?

smoking maining from exhaust but can see a small amout of smoke if you look at the gas tank.
