A buddy of mine is looking at that or a Predator. The dealer that is trying to sell it to him says that it has a full LSR chassy. It is suppose to sell for around $7000 - $7500.
It sounds like that is what Nate Frese is going to ride next year.

Sure does not look like it has very much suspension travel on the front end? It does look pretty cool though.

You will be able to get them in the US. We are looking into it!

09-02-2002, 11:15 PM
That is a really cool looking quad. I respect what Gasgas is doing. Good for them. I think there is a real market for race ready quads. I hope it works out as well for them as it has for Cannondale. It seems a lot like the old R. This is what a lot of people have been asking for. Oynot, ever race in Galesburg, Il? We should have a real good race Sept 15th. Chris Snell will be riding. I am not sure if you have heard of him, but he is a real good local rider. I think he is faster than Frese. Just my opinion. I would like to see them race....

No I have not raced Galesburg. I have been racing the local tracks around here this season. I hear there are some real nice tracks in Ill. I have heard of Chris Snell, but that is about it. I don't think I have seen him race. I think there are a lot of good local riders that are faster than some of the pro's but they don' t have the oppertunity to run the nationals.

I have to agree. What is up with them shocks? They look like they would bottom out after wheelie. I have never seen any quite like that. Ecspecially with rezzies. What gives? Jeff@thequadshop enlighten us......:huh

Holy crap! Their gonna go through with it this time? Even though it isnt 250cc and is 52" wide, Im gonna look into this thing! Even though its very ugly from the side it's still tight. I expect it wont be cheap, AND IT'S A 2-STROKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

airheadedduner
09-04-2002, 11:11 PM
Ohlin's fully adjustable shocks are kick arse. High\Low speed compression adjustmen and rebound. Each knob has 40(!!) clicks of adjustment. My ohlin's don't look like they have much traval either but I have enough to bottom my frame into the ground(only happend once!).

stocktires
09-04-2002, 11:17 PM
Yep, I gota ohlins rear fully adjustable and Its a very nice shock. Very smooth and high quality. But Its valved a lil bit soft, even with the compression all the way up. I havent ever bottomed mine really bad yet, just landing a bit wrong and gently bottoming.
That front end looks too high to me, thats not gonna help handeling.

I don't know too many details yet since we didn't get to go to the dealer show a couple weeks ago. I've been talking to a guy over on ATV Confusion named lt250r that seems to know alot about it.
You can't judge a shocks travel by the visible length of the shaft. That didn't sound right!:p

Why is it that all the new quads coming out are so ugly? They all sound like some sweet quads but they should have the looks to go with the preformance(sp).

Its just a matter of opinion. I like change!

09-05-2002, 09:13 AM

quoted from a Gas Gas press release:

For 2003, GAS GAS is presenting the new ‘Wild HP’ quad, with two engines: the 300 2 strokes and the 4-stroke 450. Over an electric blue structure denoting power and technology, this new product adopts a chrome-molibdenum steel truss-double cradle frame. The front suspension features trapezoidal links with two multi-adjustable Öhlins shocks, while the rear suspension is an aluminium-made swing arm with a progressive linkage system, with a single Öhlins shock absorber. The front brakes consist on two ventilated 180-mm discs with twin-piston floating Brembo calipers, also used in the single ventilated 220-mm rear disc brake. The fuel tank capacity is 18 litres and void weight goes from 178 kg for the 300-2 strokes to the 185 kg of the 450-4 strokes.

Both engines present a six-gear change, with a single two- and four-stroke cylinder respectively. The two-cylinder engine has direct reed intake into the crankcase, a Keihin PWK 38-mm carburettor and a hydraulically-operated multiplate clutch, whereas the 4-stroke engine features a 4-valve head and electronic injection with the ignition integrated in the injection system.

As any good four-wheeled vehicle specially conceived for off-road use, the new GAS GAS quad has an aluminium front guard, security side grids, reinforced rear mudguard and emergency off switch. All together gives it a very aggressive and breaking stance, and it has already been tested in competition, with very good performance reflecting in its brilliant results.

I was under the impression that the US version will not have the turn signals on it. As far as looks goes, I didn't care for the looks of the Cannondale's until I saw one in person and then rode one!

The new GAS GAS 300cc quads will start arriving on DEC 1st the 40cc four stroke will arrive Jan 1st. I do not have any idea how some of your dealers said they can get them in a week. I think they are BSing you. The reatail price is like 8195(I can't remember exactly). My dealer will be selling them for 7800. The four stroke one will only be a 400cc. Gas Gas doesn't even make a 450. The motor in the bike someone posted was a 400. That is what i in the quad but it will be redesigned. Also new brochures are out at your local Gas Gas Dealer.

Yes Gas Gas does make a 450 bike you can go to a WELL informed dealer and purchase one. I posted the pic and info and it didn't come from a dealer or the US distributor, who is probably were the dealer got his info, it came from the company

Enduro: The great novelty, the FSE 450

Already a recognised sales leader in the off-road field with the 2-stroke Enducross, GAS GAS has determinedly entered the 4-stroke world with a widely recognised engine, which has already received several prizes for its performance and its being environmental friendly features. For 2003, GAS GAS is keeping a renewed FSE (Four Stroke Enducross) 400, as well as the FSE 250, and is introducing the new FSE 450, an identical bike to its sisters regarding chassis and structure, but very different in terms of engine, thanks to a bigger bore - going from 90 to 95mm - and, as a consequence, a varied injection set up. With this new model the engine torque and the power all through the rev range are vastly increased, particularly in the low-range section when compared to the 400.

In terms of reliability and performance, the new unit has already thoroughly tested in competition. The FSE 450 has competed in the Supermotard European Championship in the hands of Dani Crosset, with excellent results. Marc Puigdemont also took it to the win in the last round of the Portuguese Championship; and it was among the best in the tough and demanding Baja España Aragón, with a meritory 7th place in the overall standings. The prototype used by Marc Puigdemont in the Baja featured a new one-piece fibre-glass fuel tank, which allowed for an extra 3-litre capacity - from 9 to 12 litres. Although the series model will be fitted with a standard model, GAS GAS will have a small amount of them in stock for specific commands.

Generally speaking the main innovation affecting the 4-stroke GAS GAS bikes is a variation in the engine position, which has been taken forward by 8mm and, making the bike more manoeuvrable, specially in corners. It is to be remarked that the 400 cc engine features electronic injection, which allows for the ignition curve to be modified to optimise the power delivery and the feeling of the motorbike.
