i just picked up the pro taper ac3 bars by answer. i have heard good things bout em from my local shop and a few riders around here. there was only a $5 difference compared to the renthal's. just wondering if any body is runnin the pro tapers???? seems like everybody runs renthal.

a guy i ride with has them on his 300. they have survived a few rollovers with no bends or tweaks.:square

i have tapers on my 400. i rolled the 400 once and i bent a houser stem. id rather buy cheaper bars from now on and have them bend then a stem thats worth 4 times more. jmo tho. i also stripped the threads in the houser clamps to so big loss for paying 5 dollars more for bars. thats my oppionion tho.

I have some pro-tapers on my 300ex and i have a few rollovers with them and they have yet to bend. But mine were a lot more then $10 more then the renthals.

The best part about the protapers is they design allows for flex. Which help alot with arm pump. I love my bars, I think they feel better, make the quad handle better, and look alot better. You will still bend you steering stem if you buy the rethal. The protapers arn't that much stronger that a pair of rethal, and the protapers will flex more when you flip the quad. I would buy the protapers.

I have completely broke my stem right off. The I made my own stem. Maybe no the best stem but its better than the stock one. It maybe too strong for the frame and and to stiff.

pro tapers are great bars... 2nd strongest bar made next to renthal twin wallz... i only ever saw 2 pairs bend on dirtbikes and those were major crashes...

the reason i don't have them is bc it cost to much for the clamp kit...

my friend has slightly bent his protapers on his dirt bike but anything will bend if you crash hard enough.

I love the pro tapers, I have a cr 80 bend. They have great flex and are extremely comfortable.
Yes they take a mounting kit as they are larger diameter than stock and renthals ect.

I bought them over the renthals for two reasons. At my shop they were $10 cheaper. Plus, the aluminum pipe wall is 1mm thicker than Renthal. Therefore making them stronger. I can't imagine Renthals being stronger than these. Not like Answer doesn't know how to use aluminum, after all they are made by one of the biggest aluminum companies in the country, Easton.

However, I agree with Phatazz315ex. You can buy at least 3 sets of bars for the cost of 1 aftermarket stem. I'd much rather bend the bars!!

thanks rizza. i just thought id let every1 know. i had a houser stem and bent it real bad imagine what it will do to a stock one. just my oppinion when u decide to spend more on tapers and then have to pay for a new stem..by the way u might say i sound like i hate tapers but i still have em on my 400. lmao

what bend do u have on your bars???? mine r a lot shorter than yours???? the handlebar pad barely touches the nuts on the steering stem.

I picked the pro taper over the renthal because i feel you can get way more argessive with the tapers than the rethanls. The tapers are much stronger in my opinion.. I LOVE THEM!!!

I have the 400ex bend. I like them. I don't understand why everyone goes with short bars? When you riding rough terrain (ie:Southwick) it must be so hard to hold on. I like the bars up in front of me enough so they are in a comfortable position when I am in the aggressive riding stance. :)

South ain't that rough. I though it was hard pack and smooth with a lot of junps.
