yamaha rhino on ny roads

Do i need to register and insure my 2006 yamaha rhino to ride legally on new york public roads. i.e..back roads not state roads. It is not considerd a atv since it weighs over a 1000 lbs. Thanks for any help

call your DMV and ask them I bet they say you cant ride it on the road. I do know up in the tughill area you can ride on roads marked for atvs with the rihno but other then that your DMV can tell you yes or no.

Just put a orange reflective triangle on the back and you're good to go.

Just make sure you don't ride around town like that. It's more for getting to a trail or a different access point on a piece of property.

And no...you cannot register one in NYS.

I have one and the cops just wave as they go by. I always yield to traffic and drive real slow anywhere there are houses/driveways/people. Open her up anywhere's else as long as I don't break the speed limit.

Here in Indiana all you do is send the $30 to the state and they send you a sticker that is good for 3 years and you can ride donw all county roads
