local fuel issues

has anyone had problems with petcocks or any rubber in the fuel system. I just got a new tank thursday to replace my rusted out one. I changed it last night and got fresh fuel this morning and my petcock started spewing fuel, went all over town to fing a fitting that would be a temp fix but couldn't find any, stopped at the only bike shop open today and the guy says that they have been getting an enormous amount of customers with the same problem. any way got new o-rings in it finnaly 5 hrs. later some much for ridding today.

a couple years ago the petro canada by me had something wrong and it put what almost looked like a lining of silicone in my gas tank on my old kawi, and my lawnmower
