ltr450?

I have been wanting a ltr 450 for awhile now, but idk now. Ive been wanting to race but who knows, dad dont got much time enemore. I mostly trail ride. I have a 300ex rite now, and will b getting a new quad in the spring. The EFI is wut i like most about the ltr, and the wide stance. But wut i dont like are the small tires and the price tag. Maybe a 400ex with mods to start racing??? idk there getting out of date, i see people selling them for 450's all the time. The honda 450r is a little cheaper and more of a trail bike, and plus its a honda. If id did race it woodnt b serious or enething jus for fun. So wut do u guys think?
