Ive been out working on my quad today and just noticed a crack in one of the welds. Its on the front left shock tower. :mad: It can probably be welded back up as its not too bad right now. Is this a common spot for cracks to occur?

I think the most common is behind the top left motor mount next to the factory weld. I have'nt heard of one cracking on the shock mount.

Anyway where a weld is, there is a possiblity of cracks.



Take this and smoke it:

My friend on his stock 400 suspension broke his a arm where it mounts to the shock. It didn't break at the weld, it broke around the weld where it's solid metel. Completely sheard off. Could have been very very bad but it broke as he was riding back from a day of jumps.

Explain that one. The rest of his frame, suspension, etc is fine.

i had a crack at the same spot, just welded it up and its fine.

I cracked one of my 400ex a-arms in the same place.

Bump it sounds like honda might warranty this. I have to call them back on tuesday. I also put a picture up. I think for now Id rather just get it welded up and do a frame with Gusset and Pc.

happened to me...its common on the 400exs
