OK, well, sometimes when I go for a ride on the 'ol 250, it will just shut off, and then it wont start back up. Just out of the blue it shuts down, mostly at low revs. Then if you let it sit for a good while it starts. Or when i change plugs that usually works too. What I'm thinking is there is dirt in the carb. I think the dirt could be clogging the pilot, which is why it would happen at low revs. And then when I'm changing the spark plug I think it gives the dirt time to settle. What are everyone elses opinions on this? Do you think it could be electrical? Thanks

Make sure the gas tank is venting properly. Could be building up vaccum and starving the carb.

is it running hot....cuz my old 80cc dirt bike shuts off like that when it gets to hot...and if u just let it sit for like 5 min it cools enough to start again....so just a thought

Could I test that by like taking off the gas tank lid when this happens? Would that fix it IF thats the problem?

I had an old big red that did the same thing.. it would start to bog down while i was driving, so i'd just unscrew the gas cap until it opened up and then put it back on and kept going.
eventually i just drilled a small hole down through the cap.
